Williams Lake residents, business groups and local officials gather to celebrate the grand opening of Foundry Cariboo Chilcotin

On June 16, 2023 Foundry Cariboo Chilcotin celebrated its grand opening in Williams Lake. The youth services and support organization welcomed community members, government officials and corporate partners into their facility to thank them for their support and provide details on the resources now available to youth in the Cariboo region.

Foundry Cariboo Chilcotin provides instrumental support in helping youth work through tough times and find a path to wellness by providing peer resources, counseling, tools and other services.

Taskeo and Gibraltar are proud community partners of Foundry Cariboo Chilcotin and pleased to provide a combined donation of $25,000 to help the organization deliver much-needed services to the youth of the Cariboo.

Robyn West, Manager of HR at Taseko’s Gibraltar Mine attended the event, with colleagues from Taseko and Gibraltar. She commented “The high-quality services that Foundry Cariboo Chilcotin provides are just so needed in our region. I commend the hard-working folks at Foundry Cariboo Chilcotin for their dedication and commitment to the future health and well-being of youth living in Williams Lake, Quesnel and surrounding communities.”

“Our company is proud to support community organizations, like Foundry, that deliver direct, tangible, on-the-ground support to people seeking to better their lives, and in doing so strengthen families and communities. I thank Foundry Cariboo Chilcotin for including us in their celebration today” continued Ms. West.

Foundry Cariboo Chilcotin offers youth between 12 and 24 and their families welcoming and appropriate services to fit their unique needs, including mental-health and substance-use support, drop-in counselling, social and primary care, as well as youth and family peer support.

Vanessa Riplinger, Executive Director of Foundry Cariboo Chilcotin commented, “Young people in the Cariboo Chilcotin will have a place to find free mental-health, wellness and substance-use supports. I want to thank Taseko and Gibraltar for being such an incredible support of Foundry Cariboo Chilcotin ensuring that youth will get the help they need when they need it.”
