Taseko is a local, British Columbia based company.
Our heart is in the communities in which we operate and our Company values are aligned with the values of these communities.
These communities are filled with our friends, family, and longtime colleagues and we are dedicated to their economic and social well-being.
Our Company is run by three guiding themes in which all decisions are based. These include:
- Health & Safety: Provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions
- The Community, including First Nations: Support and encourage community development programs, which may include education, training, health, culture, employment and business development, or other community needs and priorities such as capacity building.
- Environment: Ensure continued improvement in the protection of human health and stewardship of the natural environment
At the heart of our commitment are three corporate policies which drive decisions within the Company.
The heart of Taseko beats the strongest in the Cariboo-Chilcotin region, an area rich in minerals, steeped in Canadian mining history and the location of the famed Cariboo Gold Rush.
Gibraltar, Taseko’s 75% owned and operated mine, is approximately 60 km north of Williams Lake. With a population of approximately 10,000, Williams Lake is the largest urban center between Kamloops and Prince George.
Gibraltar is among the largest employer in the Cariboo-Chilcotin region. The mine employs approximately 700 people, the vast majority of whom live in Williams Lake, Quesnel, and 100 Mile House.
